Colter Bay as it stands today has retained little of its “old” incarnation beyond the front door signage and prime Allentown location. And that’s a good thing.
Enter Mike Shatzel. It was announced in January that a group led by the Buffalo restaurateur would be taking control of the space and breathing new life into it.
After being closed for nearly one year, restaurateur Mike Shatzel is officially reopening Colter Bay on Thursday, Dec. 1.
The Allentown restaurant Colter Bay, redone with ski lodge touches and refocused on craft beer, reopened Nov. 25.
Colter Bay held a soft opening last evening. After only a short advance notice on social media, the doors opened at 7pm. One hour later the place was packed. Colter Bay has been an Allentown institution for decades. Therefore a lot of people have been anticipating its return.
