Colter Bay reopens with craft beer, ski lodge touches
The Allentown restaurant Colter Bay, redone with ski lodge touches and refocused on craft beer, reopened Nov. 25.
At 561 Delaware Ave., owner Mike Shatzel has put his stamp on the longtime neighborhood gathering spot by expanding its craft beer offerings to 44 taps, including eight ciders. Inspired by ski trips to Rocky Mountain slopes, Shatzel has added wood and antlers to the interior, and a selfie-ready ski lift bench with a mountain backdrop.
After its drinks-only debut this weekend, Colter Bay will be closed through Wednesday. By Thursday, the menu should be ready, Shatzel said. It’ll include elk and other game offerings, like bison meatloaf.
With the lights on at Colter Bay, Shatzel owns or has a stake in six restaurants: Allen Burger Venture, Thin Man Brewery, Liberty Hound, Moor Pat, Coles and Colter Bay. Former Blue Monk chef Tony Martina is a partner at Colter Bay.
