Colter Bay to reopen Thursday

Colter Bay is coming back.

After being closed for nearly one year, restaurateur Mike Shatzel is officially reopening Colter Bay on Thursday, Dec. 1. The bar and eatery, located at the intersection of Delaware Avenue and Allen Street, has been a mainstay in the Allentown district for since the late 1980s.

Shatzel, whose holdings include Cole’s, Thin Man Brewery and Allen Burger Venture, took over the Colter Bay site from the Brinkworth family in February. He spent the past nine months renovating the bar/restaurant, adding to its ski lodge-like and Jackson Hole-like motif.

The revamped restaurant features a wide variety of national and craft beers and a revised menu.
